Armageddon ready to go to the DC!

I am attending at least one day (or partial day) of the 2010 DC of Jehovah's Witnesses entitled "Remain Close to Jehovah!" or as I like to think of it, "Remain subservient to a book publishing corporation!"

One might as well worship a Barnes & Noble.

This should be good clean fun. I'm certainly not the first boogey-man-apostate to do this and certainly won't be the last. There are different reasons for my wanting to go. In no particular order, they are:

1) I'm taking my partner of 5 years with me. He's heard all about the Witnesses and this will be a good opportunity for him to get a taste of what it was like for me, especially since I've had the pleasure of attending different church services with him that were reminiscent of his childhood. Call it payback, er, sorry, "compromise and mutual understanding."

2) I think this will be a good step in my recovery-- like that scene in "Titanic" where old Rose goes back to where the ship went down and drops the necklace in the ocean-- only I won't be a 100 year old woman or have a necklace. Just apostate literature.*

3) There's freedom in knowing I can go when I want and leave when I want-- with the spouse of my choosing.

4) Seeing it from this new perspective, the one I've gained not just from being out since 1993 but the one I've been privileged to gain as a result of intensive research and recovery over the last year, may be the final nail in the coffin.

5) Where else can you sing feel good lyrics like "Though thousands will be falling along your very side..." describing the slaughter of men, women and children who aren't Jehovah's Witnesses at Armageddon? This, incidentally, is scheduled to be sung immediately following the:

6) DRAMA! Hooray for shows featuring modern-day Witnesses lip-synching to a tape while dressed as bible people.

and

7) I just haven't had my fill of Hezekiah this year. Hopefully this will do it.

*While there, I may have to leave some insightful literature of my own. Well actually I can't claim it. No, the following is a product of the J-Dubs themselves:

This is actually "old light" according to the modern day beliefs of the Witnesses (see my blog entry pertaining to old and new light). Not that 1984 was so prehistoric or unlit, but that's the way it goes. Seems that 1914 is the generation that will pass away after all. Too bad for them.
